Notes For Milton, Turner
A video and sculptural installation that draws from the histories of the willow pattern appropriated by English potters Minton and / or Turner (17th C).
During a pause in packing up my stuff to move house, i'd rediscovered some old notebooks that I thought were lost, and sat on my bed frame reading them. The camera trained on the lip of a willow pattern cup on my desk, the handle of which I had broken at work.
Notes for Milton, Turner marks the beginning of the Hobsonville Point Project, although that site is
not visually represented in the work. What was present, however, was a method of stumbling, moving from one accociation to another
and relating a site outside the work with the location that the work is shown in.
Notes for Milton, Turner was exhibited at Audio Foundation and at Parlour's Last Show, Rebbeca Hobbs, Leilani & Andre Kake and Kahu Tuwhare, Otahuhu in 2013
